AAGBV Think Tanks

As part of the Analysis to Action on Gender-Based Violence Project, the Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre hosts twice annual Think Tank gatherings. These events aim to bring together women’s organizations, advocates and community members to share knowledge, build analysis and unite for action around issues relating to gender-based violence in Thunder Bay and the region. Think Tanks will be hosted during the four-year span of this project, with the goal of hosting two per year.

The focus topics for each event are developed in consultation with ongoing work in the gender-based violence sector and any specific topics of interest in the community. We have hosted day long events as well as half-day virtual gatherings.

Who Should Attend?

The Think Tanks are smaller gatherings and are open to members from women’s organizations, local advocates and community members who work directly with or whose work intersects with supporting women who are experiencing violence; this includes both the legal and social service sector. We also welcome students and academics who are researching or studying the areas of gender-based violence.
